The typical range
Across Winnipeg, one-on-one tutoring for elementary and high school students generally falls between $30 and $70 per hour. Where a specific tutor lands depends on a few things:
- Who's teaching. A university student tutoring a subject they just finished is at the lower end. A certified Manitoba teacher, or someone specialised in senior-high sciences, AP, or exam prep, is at the upper end.
- The subject and grade. Grade 3 reading support costs less than Grade 12 Pre-Calculus or Chemistry, because fewer tutors can teach the harder material well.
- In-home or online. In-home costs more because you're also paying for the tutor's travel time across the city.
